The role of a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is critical to CodeChem's project quality and overall success, from planning to supporting primary KPIs such as product reliability and customer satisfaction. An SDET at CodeChem plays an essential role in building and maintaining strong end-to-end test coverage across the product life cycle, from planning and development through testing, deployment, and support.

About the role

  • Designing, building, and maintaining the test automation framework itself
  • Writing production-grade, well-architected code for E2E test suites, applying design patterns and architecture decisions
  • Building and improving test infrastructure to support continuous integration and delivery
  • Writing clear, maintainable, and reusable test scripts
  • Collaborating closely with developers on testable requirements, architecture decisions, and identifying edge cases early in the development cycle
  • Investigating test failures, performing root cause analysis, and reporting defects with clear reproduction steps
  • Integrating automated E2E tests into CI/CD pipelines and monitoring test stability and results across releases
  • Contributing to API test coverage where relevant to support broader quality goals
  • Coordination and communication within the team and with clients on quality standards and testing strategy

What about you?

  • Strong programming skills, with TypeScript or C# as preferred languages
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns and architecture, with the ability to build and maintain test frameworks and tooling from the ground up, not just write test cases
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles, test design, and quality assurance best practices
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with end-to-end (E2E) testing is a must
  • Experience with at least one testing framework, preferably Playwright or Cypress

Nice to have

  • Effective use of AI tools in the development workflow (AI-assisted coding, productivity)
  • Experience with API testing is a plus
  • Comfortable testing multi-platforms applications
  • Comfortable contributing to code reviews and collaborating closely with the engineering team
  • Exposure to performance testing or test infrastructure design is a plus
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems
