X-Rite is an industry leader in color science technology, providing solutions for accurate color measurement, management, and communication across various industries.
The Challenge
Color scientists in the printing and automotive industries needed a sophisticated tool for formulating and correcting colors at the chemical level. They required a solution that could integrate with X-Rite's measurement devices, generate precise color recipes, and help maintain color quality as equipment ages—all while being accessible from anywhere.
Our Collaboration
We worked with X-Rite to create Autura, a cloud-based web application that transforms how professionals manage color formulation and quality control. The application supports the entire color workflow, from importing measurements from X-Rite devices to generating and adjusting precise color recipes.
Our solution enables ink manufacturers and automotive professionals to achieve consistent, high-quality color results through features like BestMatch for optimizing color achievability, Quick Correction for addressing off-spec colors, and error-proof formulation templates for standardization.
We designed Autura with cloud accessibility as a core principle, allowing users to centralize their ink data management and access information from anywhere with an internet connection. The platform integrates seamlessly with a wide range of X-Rite's spectrophotometers and PantoneLIVE digital standards, creating a cohesive ecosystem for color management.

Frontend: React with Redux for state management, Material UI for consistent design, and TypeScript for type safety
API: GraphQL for efficient, precise data retrieval
Backend: Serverless architecture with AWS Lambda for scalable, event-driven processing
Cloud Infrastructure: AWS services, including CodeBuild, CodeArtifact, CloudFront, and S3
Design & Testing: Figma for user-centric design, Jest and Cypress for comprehensive testing
Security & Quality: Veracode and SonarQube for maintaining high security and code quality standards
